You will be warmly welcomed by our Pekoe Lanka Tours representative at Bandaranaike International Airport (Katunayake). You will then proceed to Kandy, stopping first at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.
Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is an elephant sanctuary established in 1975 to care for orphaned elephants. It is home to around 80 elephants. Visitors can watch the elephants bathing in the river, feeding times, and learn about conservation efforts.
In Kandy, enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city and visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), a UNESCO World Heritage Site that houses the left canine tooth of Lord Buddha. This is one of the most important Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka.
Evening: Check into your hotel in Kandy for dinner and overnight stay.
Overnight: Kandy
On the second day of your Ramayana Tour, travel from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya. En route, visit the beautiful Peradeniya Botanical Garden, spread across 147 acres with exotic plants, orchids, spices, and a scenic central lake.
Continue to the Ramboda Baktha Hanuman Temple, dedicated to Lord Hanuman. This temple, set amidst scenic mountains, is believed to mark the place where Hanuman landed in Sri Lanka.
You will also visit a tea factory and tea estate to learn about Ceylon tea production. Arrive in Nuwara Eliya in the evening for sightseeing in the city, often called “Little England.”
Overnight: Nuwara Eliya
In the morning, visit the Sita Amman Temple and Ashok Vatika (Hakgala Botanical Garden) near Nuwara Eliya. According to the Ramayana, this is where Goddess Sita was held captive by King Ravana.
Proceed towards Kataragama with stops at:
- Divurumpola Temple – the site where Sita underwent the Agni Pariksha (trial by fire) to prove her purity.
- Ravana Falls – a scenic 25-meter waterfall where legend says Ravana hid Sita.
- Ravana Caves near Ella – believed to be the caves used by Ravana to hide Sita.
Evening arrival in Kataragama and overnight stay.
Overnight: Kataragama
Morning visit to the sacred Kataragama Temple, a multi-religious site dedicated to Lord Kataragama. This ancient temple complex is revered by both Hindus and Buddhists and is one of the holiest places in Sri Lanka.
Then proceed to Galle, stopping at Rumassala Sanjeewani Mountain in Unawatuna. According to the Ramayana, this is where Hanuman dropped a piece of the Himalayan mountain containing the Sanjeewani herb to heal Lakshmana.
In Galle, explore the historic Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with beautiful Dutch colonial architecture. Later, drive to Colombo for overnight stay.

This is your departure day. Depending on your flight schedule, visit the Sri Panchamuga Anjaneyar Temple (dedicated to Lord Hanuman with five faces) in Slave Island and the historic Kelaniya Buddhist Temple, believed to have been visited by Lord Buddha.
